Tuy nhiên thực tế, Chè đậu đỏ Việt Nam vốn không chỉ được gắn với dịp này. Mà trong dân gian, trong cuộc sống thường ngày, với cái tên “Đậu đỏ” của mình, món chè giải nhiệt mùa hè này cũng được xem như một trong những món ăn đem lại may mắn mùa thi cử, là món ăn mà các bà, các mẹ Việt thường chuẩn bị cho con, cháu mình ăn thay cho lời chúc thi tốt, bên cạnh việc kiêng ăn những món “xúi quẩy” như trứng, vịt, ngỗng… với niềm tin rằng như vậy sẽ tránh bị ăn điểm 0 (trứng) hay điểm 2 (ngỗng, vịt), v.v..

Đây là một trong những thói quen dân dã, gắn liền với đời sống của người Việt từ thời xa xưa, lúc còn khoa cử, thi Đình, thi Làng, thi Hương, thi Trạng đã có.. mà ngày nay chúng ta vô tình lãng quên, hoặc bị lu mờ bởi những ý nghĩa, những trào lưu mới thay thế.

Nowaday, when it comes to Red beans sweet soup (Che dau do), a sweet and cool dish made from red beans and alum sugar, we might immediately think of the day of “Qixi festival day” - similar to the “Valentine’s Day”, in Vietnam learned and imported from abroad, specifically from the China.

However, in fact, Vietnamese Che dau do is not only associated with this occasion. But in folklore, in daily life, with its name “Đậu Đỏ”, this summer cooling dessert is also considered as one of the dishes that bring luck in the exam season, the dish that the Vietnamese mothers and grandmothers often prepare for their children and grandchildren to eat instead of wishing them a good exam, in addition to abstaining from eating “bad luck” dishes such as eggs, ducks, geese, etc., with the belief that this will avoid getting score 0 (egg) or 2 (goose, duck), etc.

This is one of the customs associated with the lives of Vietnamese people since ancient times, when we still had the Examination such as Đình, Làng, Hương, and Trạng (the biggest one).. that today we unknowingly forgotten, or overshadowed by the new meanings, the new trends replaced.
